The dangerous gates of the wet markets in China have opened again and according to reports in the media some of the sellers have resumed selling bats and other types of animals. Chinese authorities in January closed down the Wuhan city “wet” market after five of its workers were among the first diagnosed with what would become COVID-19.

“The markets have gone back to operating in exactly the same way as they did before coronavirus,” said a Daily Mail correspondent who observed the markets re-opening Dongguan. “The only difference is that security guards try to stop anyone taking pictures which would never have happened before.”According to a eye witness, there have been no measures taken to regulate hygiene thereby leaving the possibility of another wave of outbreak open.

Earlier, a 57-year-old woman who worked as a shrimp seller from Wuhan seafood dentified as was one of the first few people who was infected with coronavirus revealed that she developed cold like symptoms. She went to the local clinic and was given an injection which did not help her. The symptoms persisted and the  feeling of lethargy refused to subside later when  she visited the Wuhan Union Hospital where the doctors told her that her sickness was “ruthless” and that a few people from the market had shown similar symptoms. Several concerned netizens from China and around the world have taken to social media to express their anger over the re-opening of animal markets and putting the world at risk of another pandemic.
