The coronavirus death toll in the UK has crossed 100, surging to 104 on Wednesday, up from 71 the day before.

London, March 18 The coronavirus death toll in the UK has crossed 100, surging to 104 on Wednesday, up from 71 the day before.

A further 32 people had died in England after testing positive, while a further death was reported in Scotland, as per the National Health Service, the BBC reported.

The NHS said the patients were aged between 59 and 94 years old and had underlying health conditions.

The number of cases had risen to 2,626.

Meanwhile, England ordered closure of all schools from Friday, hours after Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland had taken the measure.
