Fact Check: Did Taiwan shoot down a Chinese fighter jet?
Taiwan and China both have refuted the reports which claimed shooting down of Chinese Sukhoi Su-35 by Taiwan’s air defence system. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense on Friday dismissed the reports calling it a malicious act, following the social media spread which claimed that China’s Sukhoi Su-35 fighter plane was shot down by the country’s air defence system. It issued a press release later on Friday, stating that the Air Force Command solemnly refuted this day that this is false information, and completely untrue.

Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China also issued a statement which read: “In response to the Internet spread of "Taiwan shot down a CCP SU-35 aircraft?" Air Force Command solemnly refuted today that this is false information, and completely untrue.It is to be noted that China’s relations with Taiwan have been strained as President Xi Jinping is interested in reclaiming the island nation which currently is a self-governing country. The video which surfaced claimed that Chinese fighter plane was shot as it attempted an incursion in Taiwanese airspace.
