The Indian Army has been given a free hand to deal with the Chinese aggression at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The decesion comes after 20 Indian soilders were martyred by the Chinese troops including a Colonel rank officer. “Army has been given emergency powers for deployment there as per needs and new situations without looking towards Delhi,” according to a report in Indian Express.

The source also indicated that the next round of talks at the Lt General level will happen only after disengagement at Patrolling Points 14, 15 and 17 in the Galwan and Hot Springs region – on June 6, XIV Corps Commander Lt General Harinder Singh met South Xinjiang Military District Commander Major General Liu Lin at the Chushul-Moldo border point. It is being said that India will continue to assert its military strength at the field level till it reaches an honourable understanding with China.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to soldiers who were killed in violent face-off with Chinese troops in Ladakh's Galwan valley and asserted that their sacrifice will not go in vain. "I would like to assure the nation that the sacrifice of our jawans will not be in vain. For us, the unity and sovereignty of the country is the most important...India wants peace but it is capable to give a befitting reply if instigated," the Prime Minister said.
