To access and exit the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) at Mumbai-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), travellers can now choose to use an automated digital payment system. According to a press release issued on Friday by Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), the goal of this cashless payment method is to streamline the payment process, reduce wait times, and give customers a hassle-free parking experience.

The cashless initiative is a part of the Digital India initiative of the Indian Government. The users of the MLCP can make the payment via various payment options, such as mobile wallets, debit/credit cards, UPI, or other online payment methods.

FASTag counters have been installed in all customer lanes at the MLCP to expedite entry and exit. The Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) at CSMIA offers FASTag users an automated parking process that does away with the necessity for human intervention when it comes to cash or card payments or receipts.

Presently, at CSIA MLCP, 66% of users choose FASTag as their main payment method, 10% to 15% choose UPI, credit, or debit cards, and 5% reserve parking spaces in advance. With 85% of travellers switching to cashless purchases, the airport operator stated that they hope to further eradicate the use of cash by collaborating with stakeholders and urging patrons to embrace automated digital payment options. Passengers who choose to pay with cash, however, are only permitted to do so at the central payment stations.
