New Jersey Shooting: Police Officer Killed, Another Critical in Newark; 14-Year-Old Suspect Shot Dead
A 14-year-old suspect was shot dead by law enforcement officers in the US state of New Jersey after he opened fire on two Newark police officials, resulting in the death of one and the critical condition of another, who is receiving treatment at the local hospital. The incident occurred near Broadway and Carteret Street around 6.37 pm on Friday (New Jersey local time).
The exchange of firing took place between an accused teenager and the police officers in Newark, in which the suspect fired nearly 29 rounds before the officers retaliated. The deceased 25-year-old officer died on the spot, while the other was in critical condition.

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin issued a statement on the Shooting in Newark. "My office is closely monitoring the tragic shooting that took place in Newark this evening. Our law enforcement officers put themselves in harm's way every day to protect out communities and tonight is a painful reminder of the depth of the sacrifice they make."
