Tirupati, July 15 Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Thursday said the 'goshala' (cow shed) located at Palamaner in Chittoor district will be developed into a state-of-the-art knowledge and research hub for promoting local cow breeds.

TTD executive officer K.S. Jawahar Reddy visited the Palamaner goshala located in 450 acres sprawling premises on Thursday.

"TTD will undertake an awareness campaign among farmers on panchagavya products from 'desi' breeds so that the new enterprise would be profitable to farmers," he said.

According to the senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as many as 1,000 local cows and bulls from SV Goshala in Tirupati will be shifted to Palamaner.

He directed officials to construct necessary sheds at Palamaner.

"Goshala would be promoted as a watershed project in collaboration with the rural development department," noted Reddy, even as he appealed for donors and corporates to contribute for infrastructure development at the goshalas.

The executive officer also invited field experts to become partners with the temple body to promote indigenous breeds.
