Wilmington (Delaware) [US], September 21 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded an enthusiastic welcome upon his arrival in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday (local time), as Indian diaspora members performed 'Garba' at Hotel duPont.

The diaspora members in the US said they were extremely excited to meet PM Modi.

One such member of the Indian community said that he is "excited" to meet PM Modi, and wished him a long life.

"We are excited to see PM Modi. He is a great prime minister, probably one of the best we had since independence. We are very proud of him. We wish him a very long life. All the best to India and the rest of the world...," the diaspora member told ANI.

Meanwhile, another member of the Indian Diaspora sang 'Saare Jahaan se Accha' as PM Modi arrived at Hotel duPont in Wilmington, Delaware and met members of the Indian diaspora gathered there to welcome him.

"He has brought the golden age of India back. Modi Ji is great... This is a historical moment for us to cherish," another member said.

PM Modi landed in the United States' in Philadelphia amidst chants of 'Modi, Modi' earlier today. He will hold a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden and participate in the Quad Summit.

Outside the airport, an Indian community member whose painting PM Modi signed today said, "I met the PM today. It felt really good. The moment he saw my painting, he asked me where I come from. I told him I come from the Mithila region."

"I told him that the painting is based on the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," she told ANI.

Prime Minister Modi also signed the second edition of a detailed book on the Gupta Empire.

"This is a detailed book on the Gupta Empire. PM Modi had launched this in 2018. And today, he has signed the second edition...," an Indian diaspora member told ANI.

The Indian diaspora in Delaware was buzzing with excitement as they welcome PM Modi. Chants of "Modi, Modi" filled the air as community members prepared for the PM's arrival outside hotel.

Lauding the Indian diaspora and their achievements in the United States, Prime Minister Modi said that the community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors.

Sharing a post on X, following his arrival at Hotel duPont in Wilmington, Delaware, Prime Minister Modi wrote, "The Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors. It's always a delight to interact with them."

"At around 9:30 PM India time on Sunday, 22nd September, I will address the @ModiandUS programme in New York City. Let's celebrate the bonds that connect our nations!" the Prime Minister said.

At the Quad Summit, PM Modi will join US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss regional security and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. The last Quad Leaders' Summit, the fifth edition, was held in Hiroshima, Japan, on May 20 last year.

From Delaware, the PM travels to New York where he will address a diaspora event on September 22 and engage with CEO's in a roundtable discussion. On September 23, PM Modi will address the Summit of the Future at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
