China reported zero new domestic cases of coronavirus infection

For the first time since the beginning of the outbreak, China revealed that no new cases of domestic coronavirus was reported in the country. The 34 infections diagnosed , were of people that arrived in the country from abroad.

In Venice fish could be seen in the canals for the first time in years

The water of the canals in Venice is clearer ever since the COVID-19 coronavirus has put a halt to tourism in the famous city. Over the past few years, the city has been struggling to deal with overcrowding and pollution caused largely by tourism. Videos and images of canals show that the water has become crystal clear.

Vaccine trials are already underway

On March 16, the first human was injected with an "investigational" vaccine as part of the U.S.'s human trials for a coronavirus vaccine. Though it is a promising step towards developing a vaccine for preventing infection from the COVID-19, public health officials still say it will take a year to a year and a half to fully test and develop any vaccine.

While stores and restaurants across the U.S. have closed up shop, both Apple and Starbucks have reopened all of their stores in China as the novel coronavirus spread slows across the country.

 103-year-old Chinese grandmother who made full recovery from COVID-19

A 103-year-old grandmother has recovered from the coronavirus following six-day treatment in Wuhan. Ms Zhang was cured within less than a week because 'she did not have many underlying health conditions. The grandmother was diagnosed with the deadly disease on March 1 at Liyuan Affiliated Hospital of Tongji Medical College in Wuhan, Hubei Province of central China. She was in critical condition and could barely communicate with the medics when she was admitted to the hospital.

Air pollutants and warming gases over cities worldwide have gone down dramatically since the COVID-19 coronavirus started to impact work and travel.
 

A sense of unity among the people

In Italy, which has been one of the worst affected countries by the pandemic, whole communities have come together to sing songs and play instruments from their balconies. Examples of communities coming together to help each other out — while keeping a safe distance - have been spreading through social media.

China closing down coronavirus hospitals

China has shut down all 16 temporary coronavirus hospitals in Wuhan as cases of coronavirus have began to decrease. The last 49 patients walked out of the Wuchang temporary hospital in the capital of Hubei province.
