Ramadan 2025 Crescent Moon Sighted in US, America to Begin Fasting From March 1
The holy month of Ramadan 2025 has officially begun for Muslims in North America, following the sighting of the crescent moon on Friday, February 28. This marks the start of a month-long period of fasting, prayer and spiritual reflection for millions of Muslims worldwide.
In the United States, the Central Hilal Committee confirmed moon sightings in several locations, including Lawrenceville, NJ, Burlington, MA, East Brunswick, NJ, Mount Laurel, NJ, Lansdale, PA, and Upper Darby, PA. Based on these verified sightings, the committee declared that Saturday, March 1, 2025, will be the first day of Ramadan 1446.

In Saudi Arabia, the crescent moon was sighted at the Sudair and Tumair observatories, confirming that Ramadan 2025 will begin on March 1, 2025. Other countries like the UAE, UK, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand have also started Ramadan on the same day.
However, due to differences in moon sightings, Ramadan will commence on March 2, 2025, in countries such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
