Volodymyr Zelenskyy Rejects Calls for Immediate Ukraine-Russia Ceasefire, Says 'Failure for Everyone'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected calls for Ukraine to agree to an immediate ceasefire in its war with Russia, stating that a cessation of hostilities without detailed security guarantees would be a “failure for everyone.” Zelenskyy said he saw no need to make amends for an explosive row with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday or come up with a plan to restore his relationship with the Trump. “This relationship will continue because this is more than a relationship in one moment,” said Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy said Russia’s failure to abide by a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine after invading in 2014 convinced him that it would be a mistake to agree to stop fighting without an enforcement mechanism backed up by military force.

“If you don’t have an end to the war and you don’t have security guarantees, no one is able to control a ceasefire,” Zelenskyy said from London’s Stansted airport.
In a post on social media, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine have support from European countries. "As a result of these days, we see clear support from Europe. Even more unity, even more willingness to cooperate. Everyone is united on the main issue – for peace to be real, we need real security guarantees. And this is the position of all of Europe – the entire continent. The United Kingdom, the European Union, Türkiye," he stated in a video posted on X.

"Of course, we understand the importance of America, and we are grateful for all the support we’ve received from the United States. There has not been a day when we haven’t felt gratitude. It’s gratitude for the preservation of our independence – our resilience in Ukraine is based on what our partners are doing for us – and for their own security," he stated further.
"What we need is peace, not endless war. And that’s why we say security guarantees are the key to this," he said.
