Thick black clouds of smoke billowed out from the Washington International Airport in Baltimore on Monday, April 7. The smoke originated from a vehicle that caught on fire at the airport's parking lot. BWI Marshall Airport, in its latest post on X, informed that the road that was closed for vehicular movement was closed due to fire, and airport parking shuttles are reopening.

"Lower level roadway has reopened except in the immediate location of the vehicle. @BWIfire has secured the scene. Airport parking shuttles have resumed operations on the lower level," stated BWI Airport.

Earlier, the airport informed that one lane of the lower-level terminal roadway is open due to a vehicle fire. "One lane of lower-level terminal roadway is open as a result of a vehicle fire near Door 14. Fire is extinguished. No injuries reported," the post reads.

A video shared on social media shows a plume of black smoke coming out from the building, making the view blurry and invisible. 

According to officials, the fire originated from a vehicle and caused heavy smoke. The blaze has since been extinguished, and no injuries have been reported. Emergency personnel remain on site to ensure the area is safe and to investigate the cause of the fire.
