Donald Trump, after assuming office for the second time as US President, appointed and made major changes in the administration. Trump surprised the world when he announced a 13-year-old cancer survivor as a Secret Service Agent during his joint address to Congress on Tuesday, March 4.
Devarjaye 'DJ' Daniel, youngest US Secret Service Agent, has a rare form of brain and spinal cancer, was present at Capitol Hill and was both stunned and delighted as US Secret Service Director Sean Curran presented him with an honorary badge.

"Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who truly loves our police. His name is DJ Daniel. He is 13 years old, and he has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. But in 2018, D.J. was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago," Trump said during his address to the US Congress.
Trump said that DJ Daniel and his dad have been a quest to make his dream of becoming a police officer come true and said that he has been made an honorary member of local police departments. US President surprised Daniel with the announcement that his dream was becoming a reality. Trump said, "Tonight, DJ, we're going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service Director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States."
After the announcement, Curran then walked over to Daniel and presented him with a customized Secret Service badge. As the crowd started chanting the young boy’s name, Trump concluded his address by saying, "Thank you, DJ."
Who is DJ Daniel?
DJ Daniel lives in Texas, is interested in US law enforcement, and dreams of becoming a police officer. In December 2024, he was sworn in as an honorary Jasper police officer and received a kye from the city. He has also received similar honors from the cities of Mansfield, Lake Charles, and Aurora.
Besides DJ, Trump also mentioned many other common people during his address to Congress on Tuesday, including Laken Riley, Corey Comperatore, slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller, and Jocelyn Nungaray — a 12-year-old girl allegedly killed by illegal immigrants.
