Ms Nidarshana Gowani: Easing hardships and spreading joys
What was the last time you came across someone giving selflessly to the world without expecting anything in return? Well, the internet has a handful of such stories and our elders have told us some more. But that is about it. In a fast-moving and growingly selfish world, it is hard to come across people who do selflessly for others without any expectations. One such person is Ms Nidarshana Gowani, who has been blessed with it all but instead of letting the success make her arrogant, she is using her privilege to make a difference in the world. She is the one driving Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust and making incredible contributions. Her efforts are not confined to the poor. She doesn’t focus solely on distributing food or money. Instead, her focus is on spreading joy and making everyone feel empowered. While it may all seem too dreamy, she has made it a reality over the past few years. She has recently also received a lot of recognition online where people have recognized and appreciated her efforts. She has also expressed several times that her efforts don’t need recognition. She just wants to do her bit for the underprivileged, and recognition is not her agenda.
Some of her efforts include feeding drives for stray animals, HPV vaccination drives, felicitation drives for police personnel, sports events for women, sports events in blind schools, ceremonies for war widows, felicitation ceremonies for wives of defence personnel, celebratory events for transgenders, women empowerment initiatives, breast check-up camps, construction of temples and Dharamshala, functions for cancer survivors, fashion shows to spread joy, medical camps and many more. All through the pandemic and the lockdown, Ms Gowani was working tirelessly toward the welfare of the people around her. Right from distributing masks, sanitisers, and PPE kits to organizing meals and transport for those in need, her team did it all.She also made Diwali more beautiful for people by offering opportunities to potters to make diyas. She also helped the people in Ayodhya by building toilets for them.At Kamala Trust, she focuses her efforts in various directions such as healthcare, religion, women empowerment, equality for all genders, special care for those with disabilities and terminal illnesses, hygiene and sanitation, employment generation, and many more. When asked, Ms Nidarshana often says that all this is an investment in the future of the country. She also admits that it is her way to give back to the world more than she takes from it. Ms Gowani is an inspiration to others and we hope that many more people follow her example. We wish her luck in her future and hope that this giving spirit never fades.
