Summer Season: Know Effective Home Remedies for Bloating and Acidity
As the summer begins rising temperatures can have several ill-effects on our health. Common problems like dehydration, indigestion, and bloating become more frequent. Consuming spicy and oily foods can make the stomach feel heavy and uncomfortable. Additionally, due to modern sedentary lifestyles, many people experience digestive issues such as bloating, gas, nausea, and even chest pain.
Sitting for long hours, lack of physical activity, and excessive consumption of tea and coffee can worsen these conditions. Often, stomach pain or chest discomfort can cause panic, leading individuals to fear conditions like a heart attack or appendicitis.

Gas formation is a natural part of digestion, but when it gets trapped in the stomach, it can cause significant discomfort. If you frequently suffer from bloating or gas-related issues, try these simple and effective remedies to find relief.
- Physical movement helps in releasing trapped gas from the stomach. Engaging in activities like walking (Shatapawali) or light exercises can provide relief from bloating and digestive discomfort.
- Massage and Asafoetida Application: Gently massaging the painful area on your stomach with your hands can stimulate gas release and ease discomfort. Applying asafoetida (hing) mixed with water on the abdomen can also help reduce bloating and pain.
- Try Yoga for Gas Relief: Certain yoga asanas can help alleviate bloating and gas. One effective pose is the Pawanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose): Lie down on the floor: Lift both legs in the air and bend them towards the stomach and chest. Hold your legs tightly with both hands. Stay in this position for about 20 minutes. This exercise helps release trapped gas, providing immediate relief.
- Drink Warm Water or Herbal Tea: Warm water and herbal teas, such as mint or ginger tea, can aid digestion and relieve bloating. These natural ingredients help with indigestion, constipation, and gas-related discomfort.
- Try a Spice-Infused Drink: Trapped gas can cause bloating and even swelling in the veins, making it difficult to move comfortably. Drinking a homemade spice-infused water can help: Boil water with spices like dill, cumin, coriander, and turmeric. Let it cool slightly and drink for relief from bloating and gas.
