Sutak Period and Precautions
The Sutak period begins 12 hours before the eclipse and is considered a time for spiritual practices and caution: Avoid negative thoughts, anger, eating, and cooking during this time. Sleep should be avoided. Pregnant women should not travel and avoid sharp objects or unnecessary exposure.
It is also advised not to touch idols of gods and goddesses or perform any auspicious tasks during the eclipse.
