Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi in Aurangzeb remarks case gets anticipatory bail. The Mumbai Sessions Court granted him bail on March 11 and stated that he is required to furnish a solvent surety bond of Rs 20,000.
Additionally, the court directed him to present himself before the investigating officer on March 12, 13, and 15 between 11 am and 1 pm. The court also warned him that if he tampered with any evidence related to the case, he would face consequences.
The Mumbai Police filed the complaint against Azmi under Bombay Penal Code (BNS) sections 299, 302, 356 (1), and 356 (2). These clauses deal with murder, assault, or criminal force with the purpose to disgrace a person and culpable homicide not amounting to murder, respectively.
Abu Azmi's remarks on Aurangzeb caused a lot of public attention and outrage, which led to the legal action.
Due to his praise of Aurangzeb, the Samajwadi Party lawmaker was suspended from the Maharashtra legislative assembly last week until the end of the current budget session on March 26. Abu Azmi also wrote a letter regarding his suspension to Speaker Rahul Narwekar.
Azmi later claimed that the action against him was taken even though he had taken back his comments, claiming injustice.
India's boundary extended to Afghanistan and Burma (Myanmar) under Aurangzeb's rule, according to the SP leader.
"Our GDP accounted for 24 percent (of the world GDP), and India was called a golden sparrow (during his regime)," stated the MLA.
