Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Asim Azmi appeared before Mumbai Police on March 12, Wednesday, about his contentious remarks on Aurangzeb. Speaking with reporters, he asked that people are calling him a terrorist, but which terror has he spread?
Azmi stated, "I am going to Marine Drive Police Station," before meeting the investigating officer. For three days, the court has ordered me to appear at the police station and sign in front of the officers.
"There is no case; there is no need to record a statement. I had been the subject of an FIR. Anticipatory bail was taken by me. I was granted bail, and I have three days to come sign it," the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) told reporters after seeing the investigating officer.

He further said, “If I'm being accused without doing anything wrong, then yes, I'm afraid of that. They suspended me from the entire session. People are calling me a terrorist, but which terror have I spread? This is meaningless. The government might do whatever it likes, but I will continue my work."
In connection with his contentious remarks against Aurangzeb, the Mumbai court has mandated that the SP lawmaker appear before the officer for a probe. The Mumbai court has scheduled his court date for March 12, 13, and 15 from 11 AM to 1 PM.
The Mumbai Sessions Court granted him bail on March 11 and stated that he is required to furnish a solvent surety bond of Rs 20,000.
The Mumbai Police filed the complaint against Azmi under Bombay Penal Code (BNS) sections 299, 302, 356 (1), and 356 (2). These clauses deal with murder, assault, or criminal force with the purpose to disgrace a person and culpable homicide not amounting to murder, respectively.
