Ahilyanagar Shocker: Man Beheads Girlfriend with Sharp Weapon After Blackmail Threat

A gruesome murder occurred late Wednesday night in Wambori Shivara, Rahuri taluka, Maharashtra, when a man killed his girlfriend. The accused then surrendered himself at the Wambori police station. Both the victim and the accused are residents of Ambegaon taluka, Pune district. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Sonali Raju Jadhav. Sonali and the accused, 53-year-old Sakharam Dhondiba Walkoli, were involved in an extramarital affair. They had lived together as a couple for some time.  Recently, Sonali had left Sakharam and returned to her husband. However, she then contacted Sakharam, demanding money and threatening to return to him, saying she would file a police complaint against her husband. She also threatened to expose their affair if he didn't provide for her.  Sakharam, reportedly driven to desperation by these threats, committed the murder.

Upon receiving information about the incident, senior police officers, including Additional Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Kaluberme, Sub Divisional Police Officer Dr. Basavaraj Shivpuje, and Police Inspector Sanjay Thege, arrived at the scene. Sonali's body, with her head severed, was recovered. The body was sent to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination.  Rahuri police arrested Sakharam Walkoli, and a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by Police Constable Sunil Nikam.

On Wednesday evening, Sonali traveled from Pune to Ahilyanagar, where she met Sakharam at the bus station.  Sakharam then took her to a secluded area near the Panchmukhi Mahadev temple in the Wambori region.  During an argument that night, Sakharam assaulted Sonali with a wooden stick and stones. He then used a sickle to decapitate her.  He subsequently turned himself in at the Wambori police station and confessed to the crime.
