Ajit Pawar directs hospitals to gear up for ‘third wave’, to ramp up beds for kids

India is currently dealing with a devastating second Covid-19 wave that has swept through the nation, crushing the country's health infrastructure and overburdening frontline medical workers. The outbreak of the second wave of corona is being witnessed across the country. Although the number of new covid cases appears to be declining but threat of third wave still persists.

All departments should effectively implement the mechanism considering the possible third wave of corona. Although there is a risk of children being affected in this wave, action should be taken to reserve a separate bed for them in the hospital, said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Deputy Chief Minister Pawar on Saturday (22nd) reviewed the situation and measures taken to tackle the third wave of Covid-19 virus at Vidya Pratishthan at Baramati.

Pawar while speaking to the media ordered the administration to make all efforts to stop the third possible corona wave in Baramati taluka. The hospital should have all the facilities, fire and oxygen audit should be done in time in all the hospitals, all the hospitals should have generator facility. Officers should be appointed for Covid Center inspection. At present, the number of corona patients is declining, which is reassuring. However, efforts should be made to bring the death rate under control. Care should be taken to ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen in any hospital. 

The incidence of mucormycosis is increasing in corona patients. Separate arrangements should be made for these patients. Proper use and planning should be done without any malpractice in the supply of medicines for this disease.

Pawar said that the citizens who have recovered from the corona should be informed over the phone if they see mucormycosis or any other symptoms. Sub-Divisional Officer Dadasaheb Kamble informed about the measures being taken by the administration. Mayor Pournima Taware, Speaker Nita Farande, Additional Superintendent of Police Milind Mohite, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Narayan Shirgaonkar, Tehsildar Vijay Patil, Chief Officer Kiranraj Yadav, Taluka Health Officer Dr Manoj Khomane were present on the occasion.
