Ajit Pawar reacts to phone tapping issue; Rashmi Shukla's inquiry inevitable?

Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis handed over the evidence of phone tapping in connection with the racket of police transfers in the state to the Union Home Secretary and demanded a CBI inquiry. When Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was asked about the phone tapping issue, he got angry. "Phone tapping can only be done with the permission of the Secretary of State for Home Affair." Had they got permission from the MHA.   

Chief Minister had ordered the Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte (then ACS Home Department) to file a detailed report by today in the phone tapping issue. The truth will come out soon ", informed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a press conference.

Rashmi Shukla had tapped the phones of some officials and leaders of the state when she was the then state intelligence commissioner. At that time, Sitaram Kunte was the Additional Chief Secretary of the State Home Department. Following this thread, Ajit Pawar has signaled action against Shukla."Sitaram Kunte was the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department at that time. We all know that he is a simple and hard-working officer. Phone tapping can be done with the permission of the Home Department when there is a crisis of terrorist activity or incidents in the state." Therefore, it was necessary to get the permission of Sitaram Kunte before tapping the phone in this case. The Chief Minister has now directed Sitaram Kunte to prepare a report in this regard. It will come out soon, "said Ajit Pawar.
