The death toll in fire incident at Sunrise Hospital in Dreams Mall at Bhandup West has risen to 10, said Chief Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Department. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has ordered a probe in the Bhandup fire incident which has claimed 10 lives.

Mumbai Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh confirmed there were fire safety lapses at the hospital and the mall. The minister said that action will be taken against those found responsible.

Speaking about the incident earlier today, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar had said, "This is the first time I have seen a hospital in a mall. This is a very serious situation. Seven patients were on ventilators. 70 patients have been taken to another hospital. There will be an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire."

A fire had broken out at the private COVID-19 hospital in Mumbai's Bhandup area on Thursday night.
