BJP leader Ram Kadam on Friday wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding that restrictions imposed on the gathering of over ten people for Shiv Jayanti celebrations be rolled back.

"Gradually all transactions are being streamlined. Rallies, marches, meetings of various parties are held all over the state. The administration allows them. But permission to celebrate the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who established pro-Hindu Swarajya, has not been given. This is happening in Shivaraya's Maharashtra and it is a shame,” he said.

Kadam further said, “Why are restrictions being imposed on the celebration of Shivraya's birthday in Maharashtra? In the last few days, Hindus have been constantly strangled in Maharashtra.”

The Maharashtra government on Thursday issued guidelines for Shiv Jayanti amd said, no processions or big gatherings should be organized on the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on February 19 in view of COVID-19 situation.

Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the iconic 17th century ruler, is celebrated with great fervor in the state.
