BMC customizes 200 ambulances for COVID-19 patients

The civic body has customized 200 ambulances with safety partition for drivers have been prepared to cater to the transportation requirement of patients across the city.
The ambulance is crucial in case of emergency or to transport a high-risk patient from hospital to isolation/ quarantine facility. If a person tests positive, the ambulance is necessary to transport them to the hospital. Alongside, if a COVID-19 patient dies, the ambulance carries the body to the crematorium.
With the number of increasing coronavirus cases in Mumbai, there is a shortage of ambulance to carry patients. A patient in Pune died in a chair on a Pune road awaiting an ambulance during the lockdown.
