The Congress party has announced Ravindra Chavan as its candidate for the Nanded parliamentary seat bypoll. Chavan is the son of the late Vasantrao Chavan, a former chief minister of Maharashtra. The party has also nominated Jingjang M. Marak for the Gambegre (ST) assembly seat bypoll in Meghalaya.
Vasantrao Chavan recently won the Lok Sabha election but passed away on August 26 due to ill health while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad. His death left the Nanded constituency seat vacant.
