Maharashtra continues to be on the top in the list of worst-COVID affected states with 82,915 active cases and 3,172 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry. 1,79,237 people have recovered from the disease in the state.

In view of the rising covid-19 cases, the health department and the local administrations have started preparing to fight the second wave of COVID-19, and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in his speech on Sunday mentioned that the state might consider imposing strict restrictions once again if the people remain unconcerned about following the norms.

Health minister of the state Rajesh Tope, said that the state is planning for another lockdown and the decision for restrictions will be taken in the next two days.

During Diwali a lot of people have stepped outside their houses that has led to increase in the number of covid cases, said Tope.

Guidelines are being drafted to ensure people do not step out of the houses unless necessary and do not travel to public places without following any rules. The government might restrict free movement in public places and allow only 50 citizens to attend weddings and other ceremonies. A 100 percent lockdown, however will not be imposed, said the minister.
