DA Hike News: Maharashtra Govt Increases Dearness Allowance of Its Employees by 12% Under 5th Pay Commission

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced a 12% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for employees under the unrevised pay scale of the 5th Pay Commission. The revised DA, raised from 443% to 455%, takes effect from July 1, 2024.

According to a Government Resolution, the revised DA will be paid in cash along with the salary for February 2025. Employees will also receive arrears for the period between July 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025.

An official from the state finance department said the hike will benefit nearly 17 lakh employees. Existing procedures for DA disbursement will continue to apply.

The expenditure for the revised DA will be covered through budgetary provisions under the salary and allowance heads. For grant-in-aid institutions and Zilla Parishad employees, the cost will be allocated under specified sub-heads for financial assistance.
