Dry Day in Maharashtra on February 19, 2025: No Sale of Alcohol in Liquor Shops, Bars and Restaurants on Shiv Jayanti
The sale and consumption of alcohol will be prohibited on Shiv Jayanti 2025 across Maharashtra, including in Mumbai. On Wednesday, February 19, the country will celebrate the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha King.
The Maharashtra government has declared February 19, 2025, a dry day to honour the legacy of the Maratha Warrior. The officials enforce liquor sales annually to prevent any untoward incidents and violations. As per the order, bars, liquor shops, and restaurants are required to cease alcohol sales for the day.
The celebration of Shiv Jayanti is not just a celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birth anniversary, but a reminder of his values and justice towards the society. The alcohol ban in the state is to honour his legacy and his contributions. As Maharashtra prepares to observe this tradition today, it stands as a tribute to a leader who continues to inspire generations.
