Fact Check: Mumbai local train services resuming for all?
A viral message regarding resumption of Mumbai local train services for all has been circulating on social media. The message says,"As discussed with Mumbai division on 25th Jan request has been received to start all the suburban services accordingly it has been decided to start complete services i.e 1367 from 29th Jan"
This viral message does NOT mean Mumbai local trains are opening for all.

*It just means restoration of local train services to 1,367 per day on WR Mumbai.
*At present 1,201 services already run. So basically an addition of 166 services.

FACT CHECK: This viral message does not mean Mumbai local trains are opening for all. It just means restoration of local train services by increasing the existing 2,781 services to 2,985 services on Mumbai Suburban network with effect from January 29. The word 'all' proves to be misleading the citizens of Mumbai.
Central Railway has decided to increase the suburban services from the existing 1,580 to 1,685 services and Western Railway has decided to increase the existing 1,201 suburban services to 1,300 services with effect from January 29, the CPRO of both zones informed the press.
Shivaji Sutar CPRO of Central Railway has appealed to the citizens that, "Passengers as permitted by Ministry of Railways and Government of Maharashtra are ONLY allowed to travel by the suburban trains. Others are requested not to rush to the railway stations. Passengers are advised to adhere all norms, SOPs related to COVID-19 during the boarding, travel and at destination."
