Maharashtra has taken the lead in the country in terms of vaccination. However, the supply of vaccines from the central government is declining, said state health minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday. He was speaking at a press conference in Mumbai today. Tope also expressed outrage at the Centre this time over the supply of vaccines. The state has a stock of 14 lakh vaccines and it will be depleted in three days. Therefore, the Centre should take note of this and provide vaccine to the states on the principle of supply as per the demand. I would not say that the central government does not supply vaccines. But the supply should be faster, said Rajesh Tope. Let's not do politics over the virus, he added.

Opposition leader in the state assembly Devendra Fadnavis has lashed out at the MVA government over Tope's statement. "State ministers and chief ministers should interact with the central government instead of talking to the media. Maharashtra is been given major share of supply of vaccines in the country," Fadnavis said.

“The allegations made by ministers and leaders in the state government regarding coronavirus vaccine are completely false. The Centre is supplying the required number of vaccines to the target group as per the vaccination capacity of the state. Most of the vaccines are being given to Maharashtra by the central government. Is the Government of India any different? Therefore, ministers in the state government should discuss these matters with the Centre instead of talking to the media, "said Fadnavis.
