Heatwave Alert in Maharashtra: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Other Districts

The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts of Maharashtra as heatwave to intensify on Monday, March 10. The IMD predicted a hotter day for the capital city as the temperature is expected to rise to 37 degrees Celsius today.

The heatwave conditions in Mumbai and its surrounding areas is likely to persist scorching weather as this marks the city's second heatwave of the season, following the previous one recorded between February 25 and 26.

According to IMD, hot and humid conditions will prevail in isolated pockets of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri districts of Maharashtra as a heatwave intensifies on March 11. The maximum temperature in Mumbai city will be around 36 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain clear throughout the day.

The weather department has advised citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight and stay hydrated. Mumbai residents are also advised to stay indoors as much as possible.
