The heatwave in Maharashtra is intensifying, prompting concerns and affecting the health of students who go to school. In response, the state education department has directed all schools to shift their timings to morning hours. Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Director Sampath Suryavanshi and Primary Education Director Sharad Gosavi have issued instructions for time adjustment.
As per the initial schedule, primary school hours will be from 7:00 AM to 11:15 AM, while middle school timings will be from 7:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Education officers, deputy directors, and heads of education departments across Zaria parishads, municipal corporations, and municipal councils have been instructed to implement these changes. Based on local conditions, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) may approve adjustments to the schedule.
Various organisations had submitted requests to shift school hours due to the extreme heat affecting students' health. While some districts had already implemented morning sessions, inconsistencies in school schedules were noted across the state, prompting the decision for uniformity.
