IMD: Orange alert in Navi Mumbai, Thane and yellow alert issued in Mumbai
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an orange alert for Navi Mumbai and Thane with intense spells of rain very likely to occur at isolated places.
While IMD issued yellow alert in Mumbai with moderate to intense spells of rain very likely to occur at isolated places.
IMD said, heavy rains are expected over Mumbai and neighbourhood today with possibility of very heavy rainfall at a few places. It also said there is possibility of occasional gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph in some areas.
With the onset of the monsoon, Mumbai has been receiving incessant rains. Heavy rains have lashed parts of Mumbai and other districts in Maharashtra leading to water-logging in several low-lying areas. Rainwater has even entered many houses in Mumbai.
