Sant Tukaram Maharaj's tenth-generation descendant and a great leader of the Warkari community, Jaysing Maharaj Vishwanath More Inamdar, passed away on April 2. He was 75 years old and was undergoing treatment for age-related diseases at a private hospital in Pune. His demise has created a significant void in the Warkari community, and heartfelt tributes are being paid to him from across the state.
Jaysing Maharaj was the elder brother of Jalindar Maharaj More, the president of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan. He dedicated his entire life to serving the Warkari community and spreading the teachings of Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar. He was the head of Shedge Dindi No. 3 in the annual Palkhi procession. Through this activity, he preserved and promoted the Warkari tradition.
Jaysing Maharaj More was known for his firm stance against controversial literature that tarnished the reputation of the Warkari sect and saints. He strongly opposed such literature and even fought legal battles to uphold justice. Due to his fearless nature, he was regarded as a steadfast supporter of the Warkari community.
His last rites were performed at the Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune, attended by many dignitaries from the Warkari community and officials from various institutions. He lived with his wife, two sons, a daughter, and a brother. Tributes are pouring in from across the state, with many remembering him as a guardian of the Warkari tradition and values. His passing is being seen as the end of an era.
