Kalyan Shooting: 24-Year-Old Kills Cousin Over Property Dispute In Nana Pawshe Chowk
A property dispute has tragically turned violent in Kalyan East, Maharashtra, resulting in the death of a young man. Ramsagar Dubey, 24, has been arrested by the Kolsewadi police for allegedly shooting and stabbing his cousin, Ranjit Dubey, 22, to death. The incident occurred late Wednesday night at Nana Pawshe Chowk in Kalyan East. The two cousins, both originally from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, had been embroiled in a long-standing dispute over ancestral agricultural land.
This feud had escalated over the past 3-4 years, leading to a heated argument and cross-complaints filed against each other in Uttar Pradesh last year. Both men were arrested and jailed following that incident. After their release a few months ago, Ranjit returned to Kalyan with his family, while Ramsagar remained in Uttar Pradesh. However, the land dispute continued to fester. On February 19th, at approximately 11:30 pm, Ramsagar traveled to Kalyan and confronted Ranjit at his building. He opened fire, injuring Ranjit, who ran inside seeking help. Despite his injuries, Ranjit managed to reach the fourth floor, but Ramsagar pursued him and fatally stabbed him multiple times in the head with a sharp weapon before fleeing.
Kolsewadi police responded to the scene and rushed Ranjit to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Ramsagar was apprehended shortly afterward in the Kolsewadi area. Assistant Police Commissioner Kalyanji Ghete confirmed the arrest and added that the victim, Ranjit, was a suspected gang member and had previously been charged under the Uttar Pradesh Control of Organised Crime Act (UPCOCA).
