Kunal Kamra Controversy: Breach of Privilege Notice Moved Against the Stand-Up Comic in Maharashtra Legislative Council

In the assembly session on March 26, the Kunal Kamra controversy was brought to the table. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Pravin Darekar moved a breach of privilege motion notice against Comedian Kunal Kamra and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare.

Pravin Darekar, while presenting the motion in the assembly, said, “Kunal Kamra performed a song containing personal and insulting references to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde."

Speaking about the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, he said, "Sushma Andhare supported the performance and used objectionable language, which amounts to contempt of the House.”

He asserted that both Kamra and Andhare disrespected the dignity of the legislative institutions.
