Lakhs of women in Maharashtra are getting benefits from the state government under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme. Nine installments have been deposited in the accounts of eligible beneficiaries so far. Women are now waiting and searching for the date of the 10th (April 2025) instalment of Rs 1,500.
According to reports, the April 2025 instalment is most likely to be transferred to women bank accounts on April 30, 2025 that is on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. Earlier, on March 8, 2025, on Women's Day, Rs 3,000 was transferred together in two installments of February and March.
Meanwhile, the Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government has transferred 9 installments to the women beneficiaries in the state so far. Between July 2024 and March 2025, a total of Rs 13,500 has been deposited to each eligible woman of Maharashtra state. About 2.53 crore women in the state are benefiting from this scheme. So far, the government has spent a total of Rs 33,232 crore on the scheme.
However, the government has also provided a fund of Rs 36,000 crore for this scheme in the budget of 2025-26. Under this scheme, each eligible woman is given financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month. Meanwhile, the government has also started the process of screening ineligible women. It is not being extended to women who do not meet the conditions mentioned in the scheme, such as being above 65 years of age or not willing to voluntarily avail benefits.
Applications of 11 lakh Women Rejected
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has rejected the applications of about 11 lakh ineligible women so far. Therefore, the number of beneficiaries is likely to decrease when the 10th installment is paid. The government is making every effort to keep the scheme transparent and limited to eligible women. After verification, the final list will be prepared, and funds will be transferred accordingly.
