There was some uncertainty about whether eligible women beneficiaries under the "Ladki Bahin Yojana" would receive both February and March instalments together. However, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare has clarified the situation. She announced that the process of distributing the honorarium for both February and March to all eligible beneficiaries began on March 7, 2025, and will continue until March 12, 2025. Eligible beneficiaries will receive a total of ₹3,000, with ₹1,500 for February and ₹1,500 for March, credited in two instalments to their bank accounts.
Minister Tatkare reassured the beneficiaries, confirming they would receive benefits for both months and urged them to remain calm, assuring that the process is underway. Under the "Ladki Bahin Yojana," eligible women receive ₹1,500 each month, which is deposited into their bank accounts by the 24th of every month. The ministry has been working for nearly a month to exclude women who are financially well-off, own cars, or pay income tax from the beneficiary list. This is being done to reduce the financial burden on the state's treasury and ensure the scheme benefits economically disadvantaged women.
The scheme was initially introduced by the Mahayuti government before the state elections, with applications invited from all women. At that time, funds were distributed to all applicants. However, a thorough verification of applications is now underway to identify ineligible women. Beneficiaries from the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana and Shravan Bal Yojana will also be excluded from the scheme. As a result, the number of beneficiaries will significantly decrease in the coming days, and the verification process continues.
