A car carrying unassembled explosive materials was found abandoned near the house of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani is currently under investigation by the National Investigation Agency. Opposition has taken the Thackeray government to task over this issue.

The NIA arrested Sachin Vaze, a Mumbai police officer investigating the case. The question is why the case was handed over to Assistant Inspector of Police Sachin Waze when there were many senior and experienced officers in the Mumbai police force.

Home Minister Anil Deshmukh answered this question at the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2020 ceremony.

Devendra Fadnavis claimed that in 2018, Uddhav Thackeray had put pressure on Sachin Vaze to re-enter the service. Deshmukh was asked if there was similar pressure on him. The five-member committee has the power to withdraw the suspension of an API rank officer. This committee consists of commissioner level officers. "IPS officers have the right to withdraw the suspension," Deshmukh said. The Home Minister also said that the allegations made by Devendra Fadnavis were political in nature.
