Mumbai on Wednesday received heavy rainfall at isolated places for the last 12 hours due to which normal life was disrupted in the city.
Due to continuous downpour in the city heavy waterlogging & traffic congestion was reported near Wilson College in Girgaon
The heavy rains and waterlogging also affected the train services on harbour line between CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus)- Vashi and on Mainline between CSMT- Thane have been suspended, said the Central Railway.
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday reviewed the situation after heavy rainfall in Mumbai & adjoining areas. He instructed the officials to be alert & prepared as India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall tomorrow.
The Mumbai Police also requested Mumbaikars to stay indoors and not venture out unless it is extremely essential. Further the police appealed to the citizens to practice all necessary precautions and do not venture out near the shore or waterlogged areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, Mumbai's Colaba received 22.9 cm rainfall while Santacruz received 8.8 cm rain between 8:30 am & 5:30 pm. Presently strong winds with speed reaching 70 Kmph along the coast are prevailing and likely to continue during next 3-4 hours.
