Mumbai, Maharashtra (October 15, 2024): The Congress Party appointed division-wise AICC senior observers for the Maharashtra Assembly elections on Tuesday. Ashok Gehlot and G. Parameshwara will oversee the Mumbai and Konkan region, while Sachin Pilot and Uttam Kumar Reddy will manage the Marathwada region.

The appointments were made by the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and will take effect immediately.
These appointments follow a meeting held a day earlier between Maharashtra Congress leaders and the party’s senior leadership, including Kharge, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, state unit chief Nana Patole, Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar, and senior leader Balasaheb Thorat.
The designated Senior Observers for various divisions are as follows:
- Mumbai & Konkan: Ashok Gehlot and Dr. G. Parameshwara
- Vidarbha (Amravati & Nagpur): Bhupesh Baghel, Shri Charanjit Singh Channi, and Shri Umang Singhar
- Marathwada: Sachin Pilot and Shri Uttam Kumar Reddy
- Western Maharashtra: T.S. Singhdeo and Shri M.B. Patil
- North Maharashtra: Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain and D. Anasuya Seethakka
The party also appointed Shri Mukul Wasnik and Shri Avinash Pande as State Election Senior Coordinators.
In the upcoming assembly elections, the ruling Mahayuti alliance, led by Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, the BJP, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, will face off against the opposition MVA, comprising the Congress, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP.
