The Class 12 (HSC) exams commenced on 11 February, while the Class 10 (SSC) exams began on February 21, 2025. As the exams started 10 days earlier than usual, the results are also expected to be declared before May 15, 2025. Officials from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education are conducting daily reviews of the answer sheet evaluation process across Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur, and Konkan divisions.
Meanwhile, to ensure a cheating-free examination process, the Maharashtra State Board implemented a new system of randomly assigning invigilators along with examination centres. However, this method has not been entirely effective. Flying squads have taken action against more than 200 students across nine divisional boards for malpractice. The Information Technology (IT) paper for Class 12 students is still pending, along with two remaining papers for Class 10 students. The exams will conclude on March 17.

To expedite the evaluation process, the board has instructed subject teachers to check at least 35 answer sheets daily during school hours. Unlike previous years, teacher unions have not boycotted the evaluation process, according to senior board officials, ensuring that the results for both classes will be announced before 15 May.
Answer Sheets Burnt in Fire; Students to Be Given Average Marks
In an unfortunate incident, a fire broke out at a teacher’s residence in the western region, destroying 175 answer sheets of Class 12 commerce students. These belonged to the Organisation of Commerce and Management (OCM) subject. As per board regulations, students whose answer sheets are lost or destroyed will be awarded marks based on their average performance in other subjects.
Although answer sheets are supposed to be evaluated within school premises during school hours, this rule is often not followed. In cases where such incidents occur, strict action is taken against the school principal and the concerned teacher.
