Abu Azmi, leader of Maha Vikas Aghadi's partner Samajwadi Party, asks state govt to bring resolution against CAA-NRC in ongoing assembly session, also demands that law on 5% Muslim reservation should be passed. He said he'll take to streets against state government if it fails to do it.

Abu Azmi said that the High Court has demanded 5 per cent reservation for Muslims in education. We had demanded it even during the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The government of Maha Vikas Aghadi seems to have forgotten this subject. Azmi further said, "I want to ask the Congress and NCP that when you were in opposition you used to speak against it, so why don't you take action now".

The Samajwadi Party leader said that now 13 states have passed the resolution against the CAA and NRC. We demand from our Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to bring a resolution against the CAA, NRC and announce reservation to Muslims in this session, else we will go on the road against the government.

The Budget session of the Maharashtra Legislature kick started today amid surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, and is likely to be a stormy affair with the opposition BJP expected to corner the state government over various issues.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who is also the Finance Minister shall present the budget in the state assembly on March 8. The budget session of the Maharashtra Assembly will be held from March 1 to March 10.

The session has been curtailed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases and will be held for ten days instead of four weeks, announced the business advisory committee at its meeting on Thursday.
