Maharashtra Cabinet Unveils Major Development Projects and Boosts Anti-Drug Campaign Across the State

On February 18, the Maharashtra Cabinet authorised a number of significant measures, such as the creation of the Sixth State Finance Commission and 346 additional posts within the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). The Maharashtra government said that the ANTF would be established to fight drug-related crimes and that 346 additional positions would be added to expand its capabilities.

Taking to X, Nationalist Congress Party Chief Ajit Pawar shared more details about today’s meeting.

He Posted, “Some of the important decisions taken by our government in today's cabinet meeting which puts public interest first:

The government will give Rs. 1,594 crore for solar power projects to increase efficiency of Maisal Upsa Irrigation Scheme. This scheme will provide irrigation facilities to 1,08,197 hectares of drought prone areas. (Ministry of Water Resources)

346 new posts for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) will be created and expenditure for this force will be approved. (Ministry of Home Affairs Government Of Maharashtra)

Sixth State Finance Commission will be constituted. (Finance Department)

Space approval will be given to the National Highway Logistics Management Ltd. for ropeway works in the state. (Ministry of Public Works)

Approval of provision of Rs.1 thousand 275 crores 78 lakhs
for Varkhede Londhe (Barrage) medium project in Chalisgaon taluka of Jalgaon district. Irrigation facility for 8,290 hectares area in Chalisgaon, Bhadgaon taluka.  (Ministry of Water Resources)
