Inspired by the real-life story of the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the film 'Chhaava' has received a strong response from audiences. Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna portray Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai, respectively, while Akshaye Khanna plays the antagonistic Mughal Aurangzeb. Many have urged that the film be made tax-free in Maharashtra to attract larger audiences, prompting a response from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Fadnavis praised the film's historical accuracy, sharing that he has received positive reviews from the public. "I am happy that a well-made film on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's life has emerged. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard it stays true to history," he remarked.
He added that Maharashtra had already abolished the entertainment tax in 2017 and stated, "We will see what we can do to promote this film and make it accessible to as many people as possible."
