Voting for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 concluded on Wednesday, November 20, with an average voter turnout recorded 58.25% until 6 PM. Following the conclusion of polling, exit polls are set to provide early insights into potential outcomes across the 288 constituencies in the state.

Exit polls, conducted after voters leave polling booths, offer predictions about voter preferences and likely results. As per Election Commission guidelines, exit polls can only be released after all voting phases conclude, which is typically around 6.30 PM, to prevent influencing voter behaviour.

In a notable decision, Congress party spokespersons have announced that they will not participate in television debates regarding exit polls following the conclusion of voting for the assembly elections.

All eyes are now on the voting trends in Maharashtra. Will the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) or the BJP-led Mahayuti secure a majority? How many seats will independents win? Could the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) dent both factions of the Shiv Sena? These questions have everyone waiting eagerly for the results.

The Maharashtra Assembly election is a litmus test for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, especially following its setbacks in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The exit poll predictions will shed light on whether the Dalit and OBC communities, who distanced themselves from the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls, have returned to its fold.

The stakes are high for several prominent leaders, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray, and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. The results will serve as a litmus test for their political strategies and influence in the state.
