A fierce encounter broke out between the police and the Maoists in the Kanker forest on the Chhattisgarh border on March 27. After the police gave a befitting reply, the Maoists took advantage of the darkness and attacked. A large amount of Naxalite literature has been seized from the incident site. For the second time, the police have foiled the plans of the Maoists for the Lok Sabha elections.

Maoists from Aundhi in Chhattisgarh along with Kasansur in Etapalli taluka, Chatgaon Dalam in Dhanora taluka are camping in the Kanker forest on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. There was a conspiracy of the Maoists to create an ambush in the background of the Lok Sabha elections. After receiving confidential information from the police, Superintendent of Police Nilotpal launched an anti-Naxal operation under the leadership of Additional Superintendent Kumar Chinta in this area. A search operation was conducted in the area by 8 units of State Reserve Force, C-60 personnel and a Rapid Action Force. At this time, the Maoists fired at the police. The police also responded to them.

Seeing the increasing pressure from the police, the Maoists finally had to retreat. Taking advantage of the darkness, they fled from there. Wires, gelatin sticks, batteries, solar panels etc. were seized from the spot. The anti-Naxal campaign has been intensified in this area.

Police and Maoists clashed three times.

On the night of March 27, there were three shootouts between the police and the Maoists. The first occurred at 6 pm, the second at 9:30 pm, and the third on the 28th at 4:30 am. During the skirmish, the Maoists threw spears while the police retaliated. Fortunately, the police successfully thwarted the Maoists' assassination attempt.

Second incident in eight days

Maoists are trying to harm the police force in the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier on March 19, Kolamarka Janglam Maoists opened fire on the police. In response, the police fired shots, in which the police succeeded in killing four Jahal Maoists. After that a skirmish broke out in Kanker forest too.
