The CM Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government has announced cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 1 lakh for accident victims. Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar has instructed the Public Health Department to ensure this benefit is provided through emergency hospitals.

At a recent meeting held at the State Health Guarantee Society headquarters in Worli, Mumbai, Minister Abitkar reviewed the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. Several senior officials were present, including Ayushman Bharat Mission Maharashtra Committee Chairman Dr Annasaheb Chavan, Deputy CEO Dr Dayanand Jagtap, Joint Secretary of the Public Health Department Ashok Atram, and Assistant Director Dr Ravindra Shete.

To improve access and effectiveness, the number of hospitals under the scheme was decided to increase from 1,792 to 4,180. A committee chaired by the respective district collectors will transparently select these hospitals.

Additionally, the government has announced plans to develop a separate mobile app. This app will allow the public to:

View a list of associated hospitals under the scheme

Check real-time bed availability

Lodge complaints, if needed.

Minister Abitkar said that hospitals, society officials and enforcement agencies must take strict precautions to ensure accident victims receive timely, high-quality, and cashless treatment. He warned that stern action will be taken against those involved in malpractice.
