Amidst the Shakti Peeth Mahamarg Anti-Samiti movement at Azad Maidan, Jayant Patil's statement against Raju Shetty sparked political controversy, drawing criticism from ruling party leaders and fueling defection rumors. Patil, however, refuted these rumors, clarifying that his statement had been misinterpreted.
Following a meeting with Sharad Pawar, Patil addressed the media in Baramati, reiterating his position. He dismissed claims of discontent and emphasized the importance of understanding the context of his speech, delivered to protestors opposing the Shakti Peeth road.
Patil explained his remark, "I am not telling the truth,"By clarifying that it was a lighthearted attempt to encourage continued protest. He recounted urging the protestors to remain steadfast in their opposition, referencing Raju Shetty's involvement and assuring them of his support. He clarified that he wasn't serious when questioning their resolve, as they have taken compensation and kept quiet.
Addressing the speculation surrounding his political future, Patil quipped that the media seemed determined to push him towards changing parties, stating that "the train has gone" beyond mere unhappiness.
