In a shocking incident, Nationalist Congress Party's Deputy District President, Dattatraya Mahadev Patole was murdered in Sangli district by unknown men in broad daylight. 

The leader was murdered around 12.30 pm on Friday at Miraj Industrial Estate. According to reports, Patole was chased by the attackers and hacked to death with sharp objects including knives and chopper. 

Patole was heading towards his home on his bike around 12 noon after which he was chased by three men who stopped him near Rohini cold storage and stabbed him with knife. Patole ran to save his life but the attackers got hold of him and attacked him again.

Patole succumbed to his injuries. Soon after the incident, the police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.

The murder of the political leader has been captured in the nearby CCTV, however, the attackers had covered their face with a handkerchief.  As per the preliminary investigation, the murder might have taken place due to financial issues or an old matter.
